Call for Chapters @Springer book on ‘Research and Publication Ethics: International and Indian Perspectives’

Publication Fee: There is no publication fee.

Submission procedure:

Editors are inviting book chapter(s) from the academics from India and abroad on different thematic area. Interested authors are required to adhere with submission procedure as noted below:

Step-I: Abstract Submission: interested authors have to submit the abstract of their proposed chapter(s) in 250 to 350 words by February 14, 2021, clearly indicating the scope and nature of the proposal fitting into the Parts listed below. The chapter(s) proposal should maintain due to order of Title of the chapter, Author’s name with affiliation and email address, Suitable part (with description), Abstract (250 to 350 words), Keywords (5 to 6 keywords), References and authors’ profile in 150 words.
The authors will be notified by February 15, 2021 about the proposal status.

Step-II: Final Chapter Submission: selected authors shall have to submit final chapter(s) in 15,000 to 25,000 words by June 30, 2021 strictly following the Springer Basic Author Referencing style and Springer book chapter Template.

Suggested topics include, but are by no means limited to:

Part-I: Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics

  1. Introduction to philosophy: definition, nature and scope, concept, branches.
  2. Ethics: definition, moral philosophy, nature of moral judgments and reactions.

Part-II: Scientific Conduct: International and Indian Approach

  1. Ethics with respect to science and research.
  2. Intellectual honesty and research integrity.
  3. Scientific misconducts: Falsification, Fabrication, and Plagiarism (FFP).
  4. Redundant publications: duplicate and overlapping publications, salami slicing.
  5. Selective reporting and misrepresentation of data

Part-III: Publication Ethics: International and Indian Approach

  1. Publication ethics: definition, introduction and importance
  2. Best practices / standards setting initiatives and guidelines: COPE, WAME, etc.
  3. Conflicts of interest
  4. Publication misconduct: definition, concept, problems that lead to unethical behavior and vice versa, types
  5. Violation of publication ethics, authorship and contributor ship
  6. Identification of publication misconduct, complaints and appeals
  7. Predatory publishers and journals practice

Part-IV: Open Access Publishing

  1. Open access publications and initiatives.
  2. SHERPA/ROMEO online resource to check publisher copyright & self archiving policies.
  3. Software tool to identify predatory publications developed by SPPU .
  4. Journal finder / journal suggestion tools viz. JANE, Elsevier Journal Finder, Springer Journal Suggester, etc.

Part-V: Publication Misconduct

  1. Group Discussions: Subject-specific ethical issues, FFP, authorship; Conflicts of interest; Complaints and appeals: examples and fraud from India and abroad.
  2. Software tools Use of plagiarism software like Turnitin, Urkund and other open-source software tools

Part-VI: Databases and Research Metrics

  1. Databases: Indexing databases; Citation databases: Web of Science, Scopus, etc.
  2. Research Metrics: Impact Factor of journal as per Journal Citation Report, SNIP, SJR, IPP, Cite Score; Metrics: h-index, g index, i10 index, altmetrics.

Submission of final manuscript should include:

  • Chapter Title, Subtitle (if needed), Authors, Affiliation, keywords
  • All figures (include relevant captions)
  • All tables (including titles, description, footnotes)
  • Ensure all figure and table citations in the text match the files provided
  • Indicate clearly if color should be used for any figures in print
  • Graphical Abstracts / Highlights files (where applicable)
  • Supplemental files (where applicable)
  • Permission has been obtained for use of copyrighted material from other sources (including the Internet)

IMPORTANT DATES:

Abstract Submission to the editor: February 14, 2021 (New deadline)
Notification of Response to Authors: February 15, 2021
Full chapter submission to Editor: June 30, 2021
Editor’s Review Notification: July 31, 2021
Revised Chapter Submission: August 31, 2021
Submission of Final Book to Springer for Publication: September 30, 2021
