ABOUT NUSRL, RANCHI

NUSRL, Ranchi has been established by an Act of the State Legislature prompted by the vision of the constitutional forefathers that the law, legal system and legal institutions have an overreaching role of human, social, political and economic development of the Nation. Situated in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, NUSRL is established to develop a holistic perspective of legal education in all its ramifications particularly advocacy, judicial and legal institutional services, legislations, law reforms and all the research in these areas. With modest beginning, the University is all set to compete with global economic standards with deftly crafted teaching learning methodology. NUSRL endeavours to share the global opportunity in law as well as legal discipline.

ABOUT CYBERLAW UNIVERSITY

Cyberlaw University is an online University that is specifically dedicated to the study of Cyberlaw and related legal issues. Cyberlaw University aims to provide various courses and diplomas that would make the participants more aware about the various legal issues pertaining to cyberspace, Internet and the World Wide Web. Cyberlaw University believes that Cyberlaw indeed provides the foundation on which the current and future online transactions and the surrounding ecosystem is based. Having strong foundations is critical for having a tall building. 

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

“The world it not run by weapons any more, or energy, or money. It is run by ones and zero…. little bits of data …… There’s a war out there, a world war but it’s not about who has the most bullets, it is about who controls the information – what we see and hear, how we work, what we think. It’s allabout information.”

The NUSRL International Cyber Law Moot Court Competition aims to foster and cultivate interest in the field of cyber law and the role of information technologies in societies around the world. The NUSRL international Cyber Law Moot Court Competition challenges students to engage in comparative research of legal standards at the national and regional levels, and to develop their arguments (in written and oral forms) on cutting-edge questions in Cyber law.

1. LANGUAGEOFTHECOMPETITION

The competition will be conducted strictly in English language.

2. TIME OF THE COMPETITION

The Competition will be conducted as per the Indian Standard Time (IST) which is +5:30 Hours GMT and therefore all teams are requested to adjust to the timings accordingly. Any delay on the part of the participants will not be entertained.

3. PARTICIPATIONANDELIGIBILITY

The competition is open for participation for all bona fide students enrolled in Law Degree courses.

3-Year (LL.B.) and 5-Year Integrated Course (B.A./BBA/B.Com/BSc., LL.B.) or Masters in Law Courses (LL.M.) in any recognised University and/or Law School across India. The eligibility for Foreign Students is that they must be enrolled in any registered law college/University across the world.

4. REGISTRATION

4.1. Registering Names of Team Members

Each Team shall fill the Registration Form. The Organisers shall intimate the concerned college or university of the receipt of the application. The last date for filling up the form is the 30th September, 2021.

4.2. Payment Details

The registration fee for the Competition is Rs. 3,000 and it has to be paid through RTGS/IMPS/NEFT/Demand Draft. The followings are the details of the account holder:

All payments should be attached with the following message – “1st National Cyber Law Moot Court Competition: [Institution Name]”. The Organisers shall confirm the Final Registration only after the payment is made and the form is filled by 30th September, 2021.

5. STRUCTURE OF THE COMPETITION

The competition will consist of 2 Preliminary Rounds, followed by the Quarter- Finals, Semi-Finals & Final round. During each Round, two competing teams shall participate.

6. TEAM COMPOSITION

• The team composition, for the competition, shall comprise of either two members (being designated as Speakers) OR three members (two of them shall be designated as Speakers and one Researcher).

• The Researcher may be permitted to argue as Speaker in case of illness or any unforeseen event. but the permission of the Moot Court Convener in such case shall be mandatory.

7. FORMATOFTHEROUNDS

i. PRELIMINARY ROUNDS:

  • There shall be two preliminary rounds.
  • Total time for each preliminary round shall be 60 minutes (30 minutes perteam).
  • Top 8 teams with the highest cumulative score in the preliminary roundswill progress to the Quarter-Finals.

ii. QUARTER-FINALS:

  • It will follow the same rules as that of Preliminary rounds.
  • Total time for each preliminary round shall be 90 minutes (45 minutes perteam).

iii. SEMI-FINALS:

  • It will follow the same rules as that of Preliminary rounds.
  • Total time for each preliminary round shall be 90 minutes (45 minutes perteam).

iv. FINALS:

  • It will follow the same rules as that of Preliminary rounds.
  • Total time for each preliminary round shall be 90 minutes (45 minutes perteam).

8. CONDUCTION OF THE COMPETITION ONLINE

The Competition will be conducted using online platforms namely Zoom Meeting and WhatsApp. For any announcements or communication, the Organising Committee will use WhatsApp group.

9. AWARDS Winner Team: 25,000 Rupees

Runner up:20,000 Rupees

Best Speaker:15,000 Rupees

Best Memorial:10,000 Rupees

*Special Incentives: Special courses for winner and runner up team will be provided by Cyberlaw University.
