In Sohna, Haryana, India, GD Goenka Institution is a private university. The GD Goenka Group created it in 2013 under the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2013. Shri A.K. Goenka formed the GD Goenka Group.

Concerning the Competition
GD Goenka University, School of Law are organizing a CIArb (India) International Virtual Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition scheduled to be held from November 28 to 29, 2021.

Eligibility

  • Students enrolled in a full-time 5 or 3 year undergraduate law programme from an Indian or international university with law as a major are eligible to compete in the GD Goenka-CIArb (India) International Virtual Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, 2021.
  • Students enrolled in law school who are seeking a post-graduate diploma or a short-term certificate are not eligible to apply.

Team Structures

  • A team must have a maximum of three members, including two speakers and one researcher.
  • Any team wishing to change its team composition must notify the Governing Council by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. The change will be permitted at the Governing Council’s discretion.
  • Anyone other than three registered team members is ineligible to participate in the oral rounds via video conference or audio-video recording, and non-compliance will result in disqualification.
  • In the event of an unforeseen event, the Researcher may be allowed to speak as the Speaker.
  • Prior permission of the organizers of competition in such case shall be mandatory. In case the team fails to inform the university, decision will be final.

General Details

  • By the 14th of November 2021, each team must register for the GD Goenka-CIArb (India) International Virtual Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, 2021, by submitting a registration form in the approved way.
  • The institute will acknowledge receipt of the duly completed registration form by responding to the participating team.
  • After the registration deadline has passed, the Governing Council will send each registered team a unique team code, which will be used to identify the teams during the tournament, as specified in article 3.1.1.

Fees for Registration

  • The registration price for National Teams is INR 999/- and for International Teams it is USD 11. Registration fees are non-refundable in any case.
  • The GD Goenka-CIArb (India) International Virtual Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, 2021, registration fee must be paid by NEFT or UPI. No other manner of payment will be accepted.
  • Any additional fees incurred by the team when completing the wire transfer are the team’s responsibility

On the Registration Form, all teams must attach a scanned copy of the receipt generated upon completion of the NEFT transfer or UPI. After the wire transfer of the registration costs is completed, the receipt must include the reference number.

Registration to the GD Goenka-CIArb (India) International Virtual Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, 2021 will be considered confirmed only after all formalities as specified in clause 3.3.1 (of Rules) have been completed; any failure will be treated as a withdrawal from the competition, and no claim of any kind will be entertained thereafter.

  • SeUnder the existing circumstances, all participants will receive online participation certificates. Only after the valedictory ceremony will the Online Certificates be available.
  • After completing the feedback form, participants will receive their Participation Certificates by mail.
  • Quarterfinalists, Semifinalists, Runners-up, Winners, and Best Speakers will each receive a certificate after completing an additional form for their rewards.
  • Cash rewards will be issued after the Moot Court Committee receives the winners’ information, such as their Institution ID card, PAN card, and bank account information, for which they will be contacted through email.
