Lund University School of Economics and Management is one of eight faculties within Lund University. The Department of Business Law at Lund University seeks at least one Postdoctoral Fellow in Business Law.

Job assignments

The holder will conduct independent research in the area of Business Law represented at the department.

He/she is expected to cooperate with other researchers at the department, be willing to interact with students and to actively participate in the common activities of the department. The position involves a limited amount of teaching (the equivalent of one course a year and some supervision of Bachelor and Master Theses).

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a PhD/LLD in Business Law or related discipline. The degree must not have been awarded more than three years ago (unless the applicant has been on parental leave or sick leave). Applications will also be accepted from persons who have not yet completed their PhD/LLD, but this condition must be satisfied at the time of employment.

Qualifications

Scholarly proficiency is the main requirement for employment.

Applicants must show a high degree of research expertise as manifested in the quality of their doctoral dissertation and other publications.

Good oral and written proficiency in English.

Basis of assessment

In addition to the above, the following set of criteria will be applied in the assessment of candidates:

  • Experience from working in a non-Swedish university;
  • PhD/LLD degree awarded at a non-Swedish university;
  • International experience (such as international projects, publications or conference presentations);
  • Relevance and viability of the research plan (also in relation to the research and educational profiles of the Department of Business Law);
  • Other results and distinctions that attest to the applicant’s ability to do research;
  • Ability to engage and inform society at large about research.

Research at the department is currently related to Tax law, Labour and employment law, Contract law, Corporate law, Intellectual Property law and EU law. The research focus at the Department relates to climate considerations and other issues of sustainability as well as digitalization, artificial intelligence and automation. We especially welcome applicants with a research orientation in line with these societal challenges.

Evaluation of the applicants will take their experience, knowledge and other personal qualities into consideration. The applicants’ ability to use their skills and experience to strengthen and supplement existing research activities within the School of Economics and Management will also be considered.

Conditions

Temporary position, two years.

The application must include a research plan that shows the applicant’s own ideas for research and explicitly state to what extent the proposed research would benefit from a position at a Swedish university.
