PhD Workshop on International Law

The International Law Section invites abstracts from PhD researchers in international law (public or private) for a Workshop on International Law to be held on Friday 30 April. This event aims to convene PhD researchers to discuss their current projects and to receive feedback from the wider international law community. This initiative hopes to assist PhD researchers in building their networks and to provide space for them to engage with more senior colleagues from across the discipline.

The Workshop will consist of panels chaired by international law academics who will also act as discussants for the papers. The Workshop will conclude with a session on publishing guidance, led by Dr Marco Longobardo and Dr Alexander Gilder, to share experiences of the different publishing avenues available as an early career international law researcher. The event will be held via Microsoft Teams to allow for maximum engagement for the Workshop.

The Workshop is open to abstracts in any area of international law. To be eligible to present you must currently be registered as an MPhil/PhD candidate and be an SLS member. If you wish to present a paper, please send an abstract of no more than 300 words to [email protected] no later than Friday 12 February, 1700hrs GMT. Selected presenters will be informed by Wednesday 17 February.

There will be a limited number of spaces for section members to attend. If you wish to attend please also email [email protected] to register your interest. Experienced section members are particularly encouraged to consider attending to maximise the potential for PhD colleagues to receive valuable feedback on their work.

Important: to either present a paper or to attend the Workshop you must hold a current SLS membership. Memberships start from £20.00 for early career members and details can be found here: https://www.legalscholars.ac.uk/membership-benefits/
