Call for Applications for ‘Consultant (Exhibition)’ for an Art Exhibition

Position: National Law University, Delhi (“University”) through Project 39A is seeking to engage on a contractual basis one “Consultant (Exhibition)” for organizing an art exhibition on the topic “Being on the Death Row in India”. The applications are invited from competent individuals to organize this exhibition for Project 39A, National Law University Delhi.

About the Organisation:

Project 39A draws inspiration from Article 39-A in the Indian Constitution on equal justice and opportunity in the legal system. We work on issues specific to the criminal justice system, and undertake litigation, research and outreach relating to forensics, torture, legal aid, forensic psychiatry and death penalty (for more information on Project 39A, visit www.project39a.com).

Responsibilities:

  1. GenerateideastoportrayconceptsfortheexhibitionbasedontheworkbyProject39A.
  2. Work with existing materials available with Project 39A. As required, digitize or convert them to formats suitable for the exhibition.
  3. Using research findings and materials to create artistic works for engagement with a diverse audience.
  4. Undertake all logistical requirements to install the exhibition.
  5. Work with developers to build an online format of the exhibition.
  6. Undertake any other work that may be necessary to fulfill the Project’s objectives.
  7. Assurance to present the progress and deliverables in every 2 months of the project.
  8. Additionally, the consultant should be able to provide support, if called for, to Project 39A’s social media efforts to create content in conjunction with online and offline exhibition experience.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors in any of the relevant fields in Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences. A postgraduate degree in a relevant field is desirable.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in fields related to visual arts.
  3. The consultant must have a prior track record of working on artistic projects related to death penalty in India.
  4. Musthavepriorexperienceofworkingonresearchbasedartisticprojects.
  5. Must have experience in creating mixed media exhibitions which include but are not limited totext, photos, objects, narratives, audio/video elements, etc.
  6. Must have experience in creating installations/ exhibitions that include both analogue and digitalinteractivity.
  7. Experience of collecting oral histories of individuals, families and communities, as well as the biography of things to tell individual and collective stories.

H. Experience in working on award-winning projects or award winning artists is highly preferable.
I. The consultant must have received government funding for at least one of his/her previous projects.

Compensation: Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The final payment schedule will be decided mutually with the consultant upon completion of the hiring process.

Duration of the Contract: The contract will be for eight (8) months duration.
