About GCSP:

The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is an international foundation that supports peace, security and international cooperation. Established by the Swiss Confederation in 1995, the Centre is a leading executive education centre, a platform for high level diplomatic dialogues on critical international issues and an incubator for innovative projects. The foundation board is comprised of 52 States (including all the permanent members of the Security Council of the United Nations) and the Canton of Geneva. With their principles of impartiality, independence and inclusiveness, they foster strategic, innovative and critical thinking in all their activities.

Location: This position is based in Geneva

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and delivery of executive education offerings (virtual, hybrid, face to face) in Geneva and abroad.
  • Engage in outreach to develop custom opportunities for executive education at the GCSP. 
  • Nurture existing and build new networks with key stakeholders and institutions. 
  • Implement the GCSP’s executive education strategy and objectives within the given budget and agreed timeframe.
  • Represent the GCSP at key events relevant to the implementation of the executive education strategy and to the promotion of GCSP’s leading position in this field.
  • Collaborate closely with other relevant thematic clusters and contribute to the overall GCSP strategy.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Undertake other duties as required outside of direct responsibilities. This could include requests from the Management Team and/or cross-programmatic support.
  • Increase effective collaboration in developing lucrative and high-level partnerships with sources of expertise not available inhouse (technical, legal, strategic partnerships).
  • Contribute to the accurate creation and information managing his/her own stakeholders and accounts in the CRM tool (Salesforce).
  • Make suggestions for improvement; bring innovative ideas and thinking to the department and the Centre.
  • In addition, provide leadership and expertise across the GCSP and contribute to its mission and goals in an impartial and inclusive manner by fostering a stimulating multi-cultural learning environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Doctoral or Master’s degree, in International Affairs, Political Science, Peace Studies, or any other field directly relevant to the GCSP’s mission.
  • 10 years of work experience in course, project, and programme design (curricula, methodology), as well as implementation and delivery in a professional, international adult learning environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise on both international peace and security issues, as well as dynamics specifically within the Middle East and North Africa region. 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE

  • Proven pedagogical skills and an ability to facilitate and deliver courses in face-to-face, hybrid and virtual settings as well as other activities (workshops, public discussions, trainings).
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and client oriented.
  • Extremely organised, able to multitask, and attentive to details.
  • Hands-on attitude, demonstrating both strategic and operational skills.
  • Good IT skills; proficiency in Windows environment is expected.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic; Working knowledge of French (and other languages) is a plus.
