About the Job Post:
Applications are invited from highly-qualified individuals for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher to collaborate with Professor Sandra Wachter (Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow) and Professor Brent Mittelstadt (Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow) on law and policy, product liability, fairness, accountability, and transparency in machine learning and AI.
This is a full-time post, available immediately for a fixed-term duration of 18 months with the possibility of renewal thereafter, subject to funding availability.
The position is suited to candidates who hold or are near completion, of a Ph.D./DPhil in a relevant field and requires someone with the ability to:
• Identify and analyse relevant laws, policies and theories around AI
• Review related literature
• Publish results in collaboration with Professor Wachter and Professor Mittelstadt
The post-holder will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a work package focused on legal aspects of trustworthy AI in medicine, healthcare, and open science. A wide range of topics will be covered including fairness, accountability, and transparency in machine learning and AI, product liability, and public sector technology procurement.
Excellent writing, presentation abilities, and analytical skills are required. A record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals and the proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and obtain research funding, both commensurate with the stage of the candidate’s academic career, are very desirable.
Location:
The position is located in Oxford and the candidate is expected to move to Oxford to take up the position.
