Research Mentoring Programme (RMP)
Introduction
Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s (DPIIT’s) Model Guidelines on Implementation of IPR Policy for Academic Institutions, 2019 envisaged fostering creativity and innovation in the areas of technology, sciences and humanities by nurturing new ideas and research in an ethical environment in Universities and Colleges. National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has also emphasised adequately on value-based research and quality research in higher education and professional courses to make India a preferred destination for international students and hub of innovation. It envisages a framework to establish and nurture world class institutions/ universities to attract students and members of faculty; and facilitate research-intensive courses designed to have a new knowledge economy.

About the program
The Research Mentoring Programme (RMP) has been envisaged with two-fold objectives: (a) to educate and train the young educators/ researchers of tomorrow in the field of law and (b) to create institutional infrastructure to have research-intensive curriculum and legal pedagogy. The RMP will be in the following three phases spread over 8-10 Weeks with academic inputs and support provided through physical or virtual mode or both:
i) Preparatory Training
ii) Initiation of Research
iii) Project Writing and Testing the Data
First Phase – Preparatory Training
The First Phase of the programme is dedicated to train the young research Scholar/ Young faculty members and equip them with skills and knowledge for preparing/ formulating the research proposals. This will spread over 1 week with interactive teaching/ workshop sessions. (Duration – 1 week)- Physical
Second Phase – Beginning of Research
The Second Phase begins with the formulation of research proposal with the help of allotted mentors. The participants will finalise the

proper research plan and work out the modalities. By using the accepted tools for data collection, the researchers will collect, analyse and interpret the data.(Duration – 3-4 weeks.) (Distance Mode/From the respective Work Place)
Third Phase – Project Writing & Testing the Data
In the last phase, the Researcher will start writing the article/report using the material collected, analyse with the guidance of Allotted mentor. Oncethedraftarticle/Reportisready,itisthedutyofthe Researcher to submit the research article/report before the last date of submission. 3-4 weeks (Distance mode/ from the respective work place).
Expected Outcome of RMP

  • Better Understanding of legal research
  • Familiarity of methods and methodologies
  • Enhancement of the writing skills/writing article
  • To come with publishable quality research article.

Structure and Schedule of the Research Mentoring Programme
First Phase – Preparatory Training -(October 31st 2022‐ November 06, 2022)
Monday – Friday- (Lecture Session/ Workshops)
Saturday‐Sunday- (Use of Library resources)
Second Phase – Beginning of Research
Three‐ Four Weeks ( Distance Mode/ From the respective Work Place)
Third Phase – Project Writing & Testing the Data
Three‐ Four Weeks (Distance Mode/ From the respective Work Place)
Submission Deadline of the Article/ Report Writing- First Week of January 2023


Eligibility:

  1. Doctoral Scholar of any university who have registered for Ph.D. in law Or
  2. Young Law teachers who have less than ive years of teaching experience.
