Call for Review articles

Microelectronics International (MI) is pleased to announce a call for Review articles within the journal’s scope. Authors are warmly invited to submit informative Review articles summarising for readers the field that they are expert in, for peer review in the normal manner.

Review articles should: demonstrate why the Review article is necessary and how it will advance an area within the journal’s scope. High-quality Reviews summarize and synthesize the literature of an area of inquiry, reveal obvious trends and findings in previous research, and propose new directions for future scholarship.

Types of Review article: narrative reviews, descriptive reviews, critical reviews, meta-analytic reviews, and any other which may advance the study of organizational management. MI is not interested in literature reviews that simply summarize an existing literature.

Review articles will be evaluated through double-blind peer review based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the scope
  • Potential depth and breadth of impact to future scholarship
  • Clarity and feasibility of the proposed project
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter and extant literature.

The following evaluation criteria may also cause an article to receive an editorial rejection prior to peer review (i.e., desk reject):

  • Not adhering to submission guidelines (see below)
  • Lack of relevance
  • Poor organisation
  • Ineffective writing style
  • Abundant grammar, spelling, or punctuation issues.

Authors should adhere to the MI submission guidelines, available at: Microelectronics International | Emerald Publishing (emeraldgrouppublishing.com)

Authors should pay special attention to the article length requirement in the submission guidelines. It reads, “Articles should be 4,000-5,000 words in length. This includes all text including references and appendices. Please allow 280 words for each figure or table.” MI publishes concise manuscripts with strong potential to significantly impact research and practice, and crafting a quality Review within the word-count constraint will require careful consideration of article focus, scope, and writing style. We strongly encourage authors to consider how they might structure their final manuscript to meet the submission guidelines prior to submitting a proposal for the review issue.

Queries and expressions of interest should be sent to the Commissioning Editor: bramster@emerald.com

We look forward to your contributions and to advancing the field through this series of Review articles.
