Introduction

In today's rapidly evolving and at the same time more fragile global landscape, companies face a variety of complex risks and adversities that threaten their sustainability and competitiveness. The increasing interconnectedness of business processes, technological progress, regulatory pressure, the expectations of society and the environment, and the increase in geopolitical risks pose new challenges for risk management.

This special issue aims to provide a platform for academics, practitioners and policymakers to present critical risk management challenges in various fields. The special issue looks at the evolving nature of risks in different areas, such as corporate governance and operations, innovation, knowledge and financial management, organizational culture, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

The special issue invites high-quality and original research that advances the theoretical, empirical and practical understanding of the challenges of risk management in modern organizations or critically questions existing assumptions. Aligned with the scope of The Bottom Line, the guest editors would particularly appreciate interdisciplinary contributions that offer ideas and solutions that help overcome risk-related obstacles while increasing resilience, compliance, and sustainability.
