Autophagy is an intracellular degradation process which recycles the damaged or unwanted cellular materials to the lysosome. The core structure autophagosome, a double membrane structure, is involved in stress response and early development. Dysfunction of autophagy may lead to diseases, from neurodegenerative disorders and cancer to metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
This Collection welcomes original research on the mechanisms of autophagy, including research on the autophagic related signaling pathways and autophagic diseases.
