Myopia: mitigation and management

Submission status
Open
Submission deadline

Myopia is the leading cause of distance vision impairment globally, and the number of people affected by myopia continues to rise with 50% of the world population estimated to be affected by 2050. While previous research has resulted in significant clinical advances in the field of myopia research, such as the development of new spectacle/contact lenses and surgical treatments to slow myopia progression, the growing global prevalence of myopia demonstrates that further research is necessary for the optimisation of its mitigation and management. In particular, research on this topic may focus on the identification of risk factors for myopia, myopia-associated complications, the limitations of current myopia management strategies, and advances in interventions aiming to prevent myopia development or slow its progression.
