Introduction
As a new contribution, the special issue will encourage applied, practical-oriented, problem-solving research having wider relevance to the research area of energy transition and its nexus with environmental and climate change forces. Formalization of models per se is not the objective, but could be used as a support. Preference would be given to better problematization of the energy transition with wider relevance across geographical regions. All accepted papers undergo double-blind peer review.
The special issue will be an effort to add value to existing knowledge on ongoing as well as future shifts of energy transition, in terms of literature, models, events, technical, managerial, and societal implications, and citations, given as follows:
The global energy transition represents a fundamental structural shift from fossil fuel-based energy systems to low-carbon technologies, driven by the imperative to mitigate climate change, enhance energy security, and ensure sustainable economic development. As the urgency to limit global warming to 1.5°C intensifies, the transition has evolved from a niche policy ambition to a central pillar of global economic strategy. There has been an effort to synthesize current academic research across the following critical dimensions of this transition, examining the interplay among technological innovation, policy mechanisms, market dynamics, and geopolitical shifts. The purpose of this review is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and opportunities inherent in this systemic transformation, identifying key areas of consensus and debate within the scholarly community regarding the pathways to a decarbonized future.
On energy transition for future, snapshot reflections, a review of future agenda of energy systems and transition in wide dimensions of the energy transition, energy asset prioritization and switching over, renovation and modernization for existing conventional energy systems versus adoption of new renewable; policy imperatives to current research and development in all forms of energies, and new models of enhance energy efficiency interventions; nexus with economic and environmental impacts.
A bibliometric and systematic review on exploring feasible areas and market potentials, analysis of energy sector management, integrated models and tools to simulate, waste management models and circular approaches to optimize energy transition systems, economic and environmental pathways of nations for meaningful decisions and impact policy implications to society; Influence of future agenda in energy market, energy pricing, and low-carbon transition, policy dilemma, and solution to successful energy transition; investment challenges to green and climate finance, more circular approaches to assess environmental impact, carbon neutrality gaming in the supply chain management of renewable energy resources, comprehensively understand the trends and patterns of emissions, actions for carbon emission mitigation and not limiting to – leadership and entrepreneurial spirit in energy market worldwide, gender issues, energy sector professional, their training and development, technology for enhanced creativity and innovations, awareness on market cohesion for successful energy transition.
