Bridge Engineering - general call for papers

Write for us!

Bridge Engineering is a leading peer‑reviewed journal dedicated to advancing innovation and knowledge across all areas of bridge engineering.

The journal covers the design, assessment, construction, maintenance, and management of bridges of all types, as well as structural health monitoring and upgrading strategies. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, resilience, and performance under natural and man‑made hazards.

We welcome a wide range of contributions, including original research papers, state‑of‑the‑art reviews, innovative construction methods and systems, project‑based case studies, historical perspectives, expert commentaries, and viewpoints.

Award-winning papers

Each year, the paper rated best by the Editorial Panel is given the ICE's John Henry Garrood King medal. We celebrate the best work published in our journals at the ICE Publishing Awards and make them free for you to read (see the most recent award-winning paper here).

We award authors from both industry and academia who have produced work judged by their peers to be of exceptional quality and benefit to the civil engineering, construction, and materials science community. Each paper is free to view for one year as part of our commitment to furthering knowledge and best practice.

Our Editor in Chief Stergios Mitoulis has also selected a these standout articles published in 2025 that exemplify the high standards of our journal:

  1. Monitoring of the Queensferry Crossing, Scotland
  2. Super-long-span bridges: wind-resistant design developments and open issues
