Call for Papers: Fifth Emerging Scholars Workshop on De Facto States, 10-11 April 2025 (online)
The De Facto States Research Unit, University of Tartu, Estonia, cordially invites applications from postgraduate students and early career scholars for its workshop. The call is open to those working on de facto states, state recognition, secession, and related topics from the fields of political science, international relations, history, sociology, and neighbouring disciplines.
We look forward to continuing this mission and invite you to join the Fifth Emerging Scholars Workshop on De Facto States, to be held online on 10-11 April 2025. The exact schedule will be distributed after the application period.
Important dates:
● Abstract submissions are due by 10 February 2025. They must include a title of the proposed presentation, a 250-350-word abstract, and a short personal statement (max 100 words). Please submit via Google Forms.
o We welcome projects in various stages of development, such as theses, whether in their initial stage or close to completion, book chapters or articles in progress etc. o Successful candidates will be notified no later than 3 March 2025.
● Participants are expected to submit a (draft) paper for presentation no later than 30 March 2025, and to prepare a 15-minute presentation for the workshop. All presenters will also serve as a discussant for one other presenter.
● no participation fee is charged.
