Harnessing Topological Acoustics for Applied Solutions

Recent discoveries in sound wave attributes have unveiled new possibilities for encoding and conveying information, enhancing human perception, and augmenting sensing capabilities. The emerging field of Topological Acoustics (TA) reveals quantum-like properties in sound waves, such as geometric phase and spin, which were previously hidden. TA introduces unprecedented robustness to disorder and imperfections, allowing sound waves to propagate without reflection or echo, and enabling greater information encoding and multiplexing capabilities.

While TA has been extensively explored conceptually, this collection aims to attract papers that harness this knowledge to develop practical solutions for pressing challenges that current technologies cannot address. We seek contributions that leverage TA’s unique attributes to enhance quantum technology, revolutionize wireless communications, and improve environmental monitoring. For instance, TA can provide robust, low-cost, and miniaturized devices for advanced telecommunications, and enable high-sensitivity remote sensing to monitor climate change impacts.
