Your tasks

  • The PhD candidate will conduct independent research in Ukrainian studies, based on the academic disciplines cultural history, history, literary studies, or sociology.
  • As a member of our international research team, the PhD candidate will actively participate in collaborative projects, workshops, and conferences, and will be expected to engage in scholarly exchange across disciplines and national boundaries.
  • Additional tasks include presenting research findings to both academic and non-academic audiences, contributing to joint publications, and supporting the overall intellectual environment of the Department.

The Department of Eastern European Studies at the University of St. Gallen focuses on the analysis of contemporary developments in Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Black Sea region. Its research and teaching address the profound political, cultural, and social transformations currently taking place in these areas, including the effects of full-scale war.
