Call for Papers – The 6th Machine Lawyering Conference, Abstract (max 350 words) submission: 11 February 2026
ince its launch at CUHK LAW in 2020, the Machine Lawyering Conference has established itself as a leading international forum at the intersection of law and digital technology. It enjoys a strong reputation across Asia and beyond, drawing participants from around the world. Experts contribute to a rich discourse by presenting research and engaging with peers on a wide range of topics, from the legal challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI) to data and platform governance. This vibrant exchange has fostered dynamic cross-pollination of ideas among attendees.
In keeping with its commitment to advancing these conversations and staying abreast of technological change, CUHK LAW’s Centre for Legal Innovation and Digital Society (CLINDS) will host the Sixth Machine Lawyering Conference on 21–22 May 2026. The conference will focus on the legal challenges arising from the rapidly evolving landscape of digital technologies.
Abstracts and papers submitted by the deadlines below will undergo blind peer review by a committee. Authors whose abstracts are accepted for presentation are welcome—though not obliged—to submit their full papers to be considered for the Best Paper Awards and Honorable Mentions. The committee will recognize outstanding contributions with three Best Paper Awards—Winner, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-Up—along with three Honorable Mentions. Each award includes round-trip economy airfare to Hong Kong and a three-day hotel stay during the conference. Recipients of the Best Paper Awards will also receive a daily allowance to cover expenses throughout their stay. Should fewer than three Best Paper Prizes be awarded, the committee may correspondingly increase the number of Honourable Mentions, depending on the quality of submissions received.
For the avoidance of doubt, papers on the following topics are within the conference scope:
