We invite submissions for a special issue of Pacific Accounting Review dedicated to advancing research in accounting education with a focus on the Pacific region. This region presents a rich educational landscape, offering unique accounting educational challenges and opportunities that merit deeper exploration.
This special issue aims to highlight innovative and forward-thinking approaches to accounting education that are of relevance to the Pacific region.
We welcome contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:
- Engaging diverse and evolving student cohorts
Strategies for inclusivity, adaptability, and student success in diverse learning environments. - Integrating Indigenous perspectives
Exploring culturally responsive pedagogy and the inclusion of Indigenous knowledge in accounting education. - Meeting professional expectations
Aligning educational outcomes with the evolving demands of aspiring professionals and the accounting profession. - Navigating accreditation challenges
Insights into current and potential future accreditation requirements and their impact on curriculum design. - Fostering academic careers
Supporting the development and sustainability of careers in accounting academia within the Pacific context. - Adopting emerging technologies in accounting education
Investigating how new technologies and digital tools are transforming teaching practices, curriculum design, and student engagement in accounting. - Strengthening industry engagement and employability outcomes
Exploring innovative models of collaboration between academia and industry, including work-integrated learning, guest lecturing, and curriculum co-design to better prepare students for the accounting profession.
We also welcome papers that explore broader issues relevant to accounting education in the Pacific region. Submissions may include empirical research, theoretical contributions, case studies, descriptive and reflective pieces or exploratory studies that offer meaningful insights into the region’s accounting educational practices and priorities.
