About the Competition
The Annual Trial Advocacy Competition, 2026 is an academic initiative aimed at cultivating, enhancing, and
celebrating the trial advocacy skills of law students. This competition is designed to simulate real-life criminal trial
court proceedings, thereby equipping participants with practical exposure to courtroom dynamics, evidentiary
procedures, and strategic argumentation. It strives to create the most authentic and near-realistic resemblance of a
criminal trial, enabling participants to experience the rigour, discipline, and nuances of actual court proceedings.
The objective is to foster a spirit of professionalism, precision, and competitiveness while nurturing the legal
acumen and ethical values expected of future criminal law practitioners.
OBJECTIVES
. The 2nd Annual Trial Advocacy Competition (hereinafter referred to as “ATAC”) is open to law students and is designed to train, evaluate, and reward participants for their trial advocacy skills within a simulated framework of criminal litigation.
. ATAC serves as a learning-centric platform aimed at complementing academic instruction with hands-on courtroom experience, particularly within the domain of criminal trial practice. It seeks to cultivate practical advocacy skills, procedural understanding, and professional competence among participants.
. All proceedings under ATAC, unless otherwise specified, shall be governed by the applicable procedural laws, including but not limited to the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, Limitation Act, 1963, and other relevant statutes and rules.
. These Rules shall regulate the participation, conduct, and responsibilities of student advocates, while also govern the organisational structure and function of the 2nd Annual Trial Advocacy Competition, 2026.

MODE OF REGISTRATION
Registration shall be undertaken on a team basis, and only one designated member shall be authorized to complete the registration on behalf of the entire team. The registration process shall be deemed complete only upon receipt of the prescribed registration fee and confirmation thereof by the Organising Committee.
PRELIMINARY ROUNDS (ONLINE MODE)
Upon completion of the Preliminary Rounds, which shall be conducted in an online mode, the teams duly shortlisted shall qualify for the Advance Advocacy Rounds and be invited to participate in the Oral Pleading Rounds.
Participation in the Competition shall be contingent upon successful registration for the Preliminary Rounds (to be conducted online), for which a compulsory and non- refundable fee of INR 2,500/- (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only) per team shall be payable at the time of initial registration. Upon completion of the Preliminary Rounds, teams duly shortlisted for the Advance Advocacy Rounds shall be required to remit the prescribed registration fee as follows:
A. Without Accommodation: ₹3,500 (Rupees Three Thousand Only) per team.
B. With Accommodation: ₹6,000 (Rupees Five Thousand Only) per team.
No team shall be deemed to have been registered for the Advance Rounds unless and until the applicable fee has been duly received and acknowledged by the Organising Committee.
MODE OF PAYMENT
The registration fee shall be paid in accordance with the payment details notified by the organizing committee at the time of registration. Any failure to comply with the payment deadlines shall result in automatic disqualification of the concerned team from the Competition. . Registration Form:

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
The organising committee shall arrange for standard accommodation for those teams that opt for the same and have paid the corresponding registration fee as provided and meals will be provided to all registered participants. Accommodation shall be provided strictly for the official duration of the Competition, as notified in the schedule only, and any additional stay beyond such duration shall be the sole responsibility of the participating team.
REFUND POLICY
All registration fees, including fees paid for the Online Rounds and Advance Advocacy Rounds, whether with or without accommodation, shall be strictly non-refundable under any circumstances once the payment has been made. NOTE – The Organizing Committee shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience arising from the participant’s inability to attend the Competition after successful registration.
