About

Founded during the ABSP Congress in 2024, this group aims to contribute to the advancement of the field of political economy in Belgium. It brings together scholars working across comparative and international political economy, with a particular interest in the changing relations between states, markets and societies in Belgium, Europe and beyond. Its research interests include, among others, European economic and budgetary governance; fiscal, monetary and financial integration and regulation; and the political economy of the green and just transitions. The group also has a strong interest in transformations of the state and state–market relations, approached from perspectives including law and political economy, financialisation and neoliberalism, and through areas such as investment policies and planning, industrial relations and welfare states, austerity and the politics of economic adjustment, and the evolution of applied economics within states and international organisations.
