About the conference
Econburgh 2027 is the XVIII EconWorld Conference (International Conference on Economics). For three days in August, economists from around the world meet in Edinburgh — the city of Adam Smith and the Scottish Enlightenment — to present new research and discuss it with colleagues at St Leonard’s Hall, University of Edinburgh.
EconWorld is organized by the World Economic Research Institute (WERI). Since the first conference in Prague in 2014, it has grown into a truly international meeting with a simple aim: to give researchers at every stage of their career a friendly and rigorous forum for their work, and to turn the conversations started in the sessions into lasting collaborations.
EconWorld in numbers (2014–2025)
• 15 conferences held in 14 cities across 10 countries: Prague, Turin, Barcelona, London, Rome, Paris, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Seville, Budapest, Porto, Athens, Tbilisi and Madrid
• 956 accepted papers, presented by more than 1,200 authors
• Authors from more than 60 countries and over 470 universities and institutions
• The 2021 conference in Tbilisi was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic
The programmes, committees and accepted papers of all earlier editions are available in our archive of past conferences.
Econburgh 2027 continues this tradition. The conference is open to all fields of economics and finance and to multidisciplinary research — from artificial intelligence and the digital economy to agricultural, managerial, environmental and political economics. Every abstract is reviewed double-blind by the Scientific Committee, papers are presented in focused parallel sessions with time for real discussion, and a Best Paper Award and travel grants support the work of early-career researchers.
