Call for Applications: Social Sciences Global South Fellowship, Hong Kong University, Application Deadline- May 31, 2026
Eligibility:
Applicants should be professoriate staff affiliated with universities or comparable institutions in the Global South region
Duration and Timing:
The visit should last one to three months during the fall semester (i.e. September to January) or the spring semester (i.e. February to June)
Remuneration:
1) Economy class return air tickets of up to HK$10,000 (on a reimbursement basis); and
2) A per-diem allowance at a daily rate of HK$1,500, inclusive of accommodation, for the entire fellowship period in Hong Kong.
Expected Activities and Obligations:
1) During their visit, fellows are expected to engage in collaborative research projects with the Faculty Associate and/or other Faculty members that lead to at least one co-authored publication within one year upon completion of the fellowship.
2)Fellows are encouraged to take an active role to participate in academic-exchange activities within the Department/Faculty, such as participating in networking events, attending/delivering academic lectures/seminars, conducting sharing/training for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students, and contributing to intra-fellow exchange sessions.
3) To ensure proper monitoring and auditing, the fellow is required to submit a completion report to the Faculty Office within 3 months after the completion of the visit. In addition, publication information should be shared with the Faculty Office in a timely manner.
