Call for External Participants: Introduction to International Humanitarian Law, 11 to 13 February
The College of Europe in Natolin invites motivated students to apply for an introductory seminar on International Humanitarian Law, taking place from 11 to 13 February. The seminar is organised in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
This intensive seminar offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of International Humanitarian Law in an academic environment renowned for excellence and international engagement.
The seminar covers such areas as:
- Legal framework of armed conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, and Yemen
- Main developments of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and its relationship with Human rights
- Protection of War Victims: civilians and combatants hors de combat (prisoners of war, wounded, sick and shipwrecked)
- Conduct of hostilities: military objectives: aerial bombing: use of certain conventional weapons and weapons of mass destruction
- CFSP and the implementation of IHL by the EU and the EU crisis management operations

Please note that while travel and accommodation costs are not covered, all meals provided on site during the seminar will be covered.
Selection will be based on motivation and academic background, with priority given to Master’s level students. Bachelor’s students are, however, strongly encouraged to apply, as a limited number of places may be available.
