Call for paper: Call for Review articles

Call for Review articles

Journal of Rehabilitation Methods and Technologies (JRMT) is pleased to announce a call for Review articles within the journal’s scope. Authors are invited to submit informative Review articles summarising for readers the field that they are expert in.

Review articles should demonstrate why the Review article is necessary and how it will advance an area of rehabilitation using technology within the journal’s scope. High-quality Reviews summarize and synthesize the literature of a topic area, reveal obvious trends and findings in previous research, and propose new directions.

Types of Review article invited include: narrative reviews, descriptive reviews, critical reviews, meta-analytic reviews, and any other which may advance the topic area. JRMT is not interested in literature reviews that simply summarize an existing literature, rather a review must consider the implications and proposed new directions for future research, policy and/or practice.

Review articles will be considered in the following topic areas:

  • Rehabilitation 4.0 and the integration of digital healthcare and advanced rehabilitation technologies
  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Rehabilitation robotics and application
  • Prosthetics & orthotics
  • Walking aids & wheelchairs
  • Assistive devices
  • Central nervous stimulation
  • Peripheral nervous stimulation
  • Virtual & augmented reality
  • Brain-machine interface technologies
  • Tele-rehabilitation
  • Social robotics
  • Cognitive & speech rehabilitation technologies
  • Event and outreach technologies
  • Educational and didactic methods.

Review articles will be evaluated through double-anonymous peer review based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Potential depth and breadth of impact to future research, policy or practice
  • Clarity and feasibility
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter and existing literature and evidence base.

The following evaluation criteria may cause an article to receive an editorial rejection prior to peer review (desk reject):

  • Not adhering to submission guidelines (see below)
  • Lack of relevance
  • Poor organization
  • Ineffective writing style
  • Abundant grammar, spelling, or punctuation issues.

Authors should adhere to the journal’s submission guidelines, available at:
