Emergency care of trauma
In recognition of the importance this research plays in UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, this Collection invites original research into emergency care of trauma, including studies involving pre-hospital care, such as care administered by emergency medical services, and studies assessing emergency department practices for trauma management.
Management of trauma must begin as early as possible for the best patient outcomes. Evidence-based practices for emergency medical services and emergency departments are therefore important in treating trauma. However, more research is needed on how to implement these practices in lower and middle-income countries, where approximately 90% of injury-related deaths occur, and in situations where treatment may be more challenging, such as pediatric, geriatric, and sexual trauma.
