Call for paper: Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Construction Industry (Closing date for manuscripts submission: 15/09/2026)

The use of AI in construction is increasing as demonstrated in recent literature reviews.

The ethical aspects of AI cover a key role in international policy making    activities (e.g. EU AI act) and research in other domains such as technology and finance. However, the ethical aspects of AI are not yet properly investigated in Construction due to the novelty of the topic. Likewise, ethical awareness will be increasingly needed because of the World Models.

The Special issue aims to present and discuss the main aspects related to ethical use of AI for the Construction Industry. In doing so, papers will address key topics such as Transparency and Trust, Privacy, Security, Ownership and Liability, Biases and Inclusivity as well as the Workforce impact.

List of topic areas

  • Governance and Regulatory Framework
  • Transparency and Trust
  • Privacy, Security, Ownership and Liability
  • Biases and Inclusivity
  • Workforce impact
  • Agentic AI & World Models
