Wireless communication is central to modern connectivity, yet increasing demands for bandwidth, speed, and energy efficiency are challenging conventional electronic approaches. Integrated photonics offers a promising pathway to overcome these limitations by enabling ultra-high-speed, low-latency, and energy-efficient wireless systems through seamless integration of optical and radio-frequency technologies.
This Collection highlights recent advances in photonics-enabled wireless communication, including photonic integrated circuits, microwave photonics, and hybrid optical–RF systems. We welcome contributions addressing both fundamental innovations and emerging applications in 5G/6G networks, Low-power photonic devices and WDM technologies, IoT, and autonomous systems.
