The X-Minute City is an adaptable concept for infrastructure and urban design that encourages fair access to urban facilities via active mobility (walking or cycling) and public transport. Based on neighborhood proximity models and chrono-urbanism, it aims to improve accessibility, quality of life, lessen reliance on cars, and build more sustainable urban environments. This special issue aims to examine and highlight real-world uses, creative implementation solutions, and methodological developments that facilitate the deployment of the X-Minute City in various urban settings.
Case studies, technical solutions, planning techniques, and instruments for assessing accessibility, incorporating multimodal transportation, and modifying infrastructure to suit regional needs is a (non-exhaustive) list of some of the topics that can be considered for submission. Ultimately, this issue will aid in defining how municipal engineering can support the creation of inclusive, resilient, and time-efficient cities by uniting scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.
We look forward on receiving your abstracts of the X-Minute City concept through case studies, theoretical studies, or analytical tools. In short, research that demonstrates how municipal engineering may influence the development of the next generation of urban areas, where opportunity is a function of design rather than geography.
