Organized by Heritage International Institute, the Università degli Studi di Parma and Sciences Po, the conference aims to address the contemporary challenges of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, in light of armed conflicts, climate change, digital transformation, and cultural rights.
Building on the normative framework of the 2003 UNESCO Convention, the initiative will bring together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers for an interdisciplinary dialogue on:
– value, interpretation, and transmission of intangible cultural heritage
– human rights, accessibility, and the role of heritage-bearing communities
– protection in conflict and post-conflict contexts, including children and vulnerable groups
– international restitution and legal frameworks related to cultural property and intangible heritage
– digitization, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies
– performing arts as living heritage and tools of resilience
– the interplay between tangible, intangible, and natural heritage
During the conference, the experience of the Virtual Museum on Cultural Heritage – promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and recognized by the United Nations – will also be extended to intangible cultural heritage.
An opportunity to reflect together on how to safeguard what is invisible, yet constitutes the living identity of communities. More details in the attached document.
