Call for Papers: Migration Power Europe, Deadline: 15 November 2025, Submit Now
How does the European Union exercise power via migration? Building on the “migration power” framework developed in our recent International Affairs article (https://lnkd.in/d_98wCDD), Irene Fernández-Molina and I are convening a one-day workshop at the European University Institute (Florence), in cooperation with the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies and the Migration Policy Centre, on 20 February 2026.
We will explore how the EU and its member states mobilise migration across compulsory, institutional, structural, and productive dimensions of power, and how this shapes Europe’s international presence, partnerships, and hierarchies.
We particularly welcome early-career scholars and colleagues based in the Global South. Travel and accommodation will be covered for selected participants.
