Call for Papers: Contemporary Challenges: the Global Crime, Justice and Security Journal (CCJ) for for Volume 7, The deadline for submitting a paper is 23 February 2026

The editorial team of Contemporary Challenges: the Global Crime, Justice and Security Journal (CCJ) is glad to announce the call for papers for Volume 7.

The CCJ has been led by the students of the University of Edinburgh since its inception in 2020. It was established with the aspiration to advance a multi-disciplinary approach to issues of global crime, justice and security that have traditionally been dealt with in compartmentalised academic fields. We believe that this has contributed to the formation of functional academic silos that are counterproductive when discerning responses to contemporary challenges.

We are looking for papers that fall within the scope of the journal which includes, but is not limited to:

❖ Security and Conflict (e.g. atrocities, terrorism, war, and organised crime)

❖ Criminological Theory and Justice (e.g. theoretical essays, alternative justice models, post-conflict societies, and international criminal tribunals)

❖ Discrimination and Human Rights (e.g. issues of gender, race, sexuality, ethnicity, human and environmental rights)

❖ Policing and Prisons (e.g. police and prison reform/abolition, mass incarceration, crime control, including technological advances).

❖ International Crime (e.g. war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and crimes of aggression)

❖ Short Commentaries, Case Law Reviews (any jurisdiction) or Book Reviews pertaining to the aforementioned subjects
