CALL FOR PAPERS: 2nd GCSEL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SPORTS LAW IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH, 13-14 March 2026

on the theme of
‘THE GLOBAL SOUTH AND OLYMPIC REGULATION: REWRITING THE RULEBOOK
We specifically invite submissions on the following sub-themes:
· Reimagining Olympic Governance: Power, Representation and Voice.
. The Political Economy of the Games: Funding, Dependencies and Development Agendas.
. Athlete Rights and Inequities: Access, Eligibility and Pathways to Participation.
. Legal Pluralism in Olympic Regulation: Integrating Local Norms and Regional Frameworks.
. Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the Justice Gap: Arbitration, Access, and Procedural Fairness for the
Global South.
. Hosting the Games from the Periphery: Legacies, Urban Impact and Policy Autonomy.
. Human Rights, Identity and Postcolonial Narratives in Olympic Regulation.
Abstracts addressing any aspect of Olympic law and the Global South will also be considered, including those that
fall outside the scope of the sub-themes listed above.
Please submit an abstract of 300 words along with your CV no later than January 10, 2026 to https://forms.gle/VZ5WeUUd6JsZQTuw5. Selected speakers will be informed by January 20, 2026 and will be required to submit a short draft (3000 words) of their paper by March 10, 2026.
The use of AI tools for writing, research or analysis is strictly prohibited. All submissions must be entirely the author’s original work.
Selected authors shall pay a registration fee of 1000 INR.
Papers accepted and presented at the conference will be eligible for publication in an edited volume on sports law by GCSEL, MLS and the Asser International Sports Law Centre, subject to peer review.
