About the Opportunity
The Ministry of Power, Government of India has announced its Legal Internship Scheme to engage law students and recent graduates as Legal Interns. This internship is designed to enrich academic experience while contributing to policy and legal work in the power sector. The scheme offers exposure to:
- Drafting rules, notifications, and guidelines
- Handling court cases and legal briefs
- Researching regulatory frameworks and reforms in the power sector
- Understanding the functioning of the Indian Government
Eligibility
- LLB students: Must have completed/appeared in 2nd year exams
- LLM/PhD students: Must have completed/appeared in 1st year/2nd semester
- Recent graduates (within 6 months): Eligible if minimum 70% marks in LLB
- Academic performance:
- LLB: Minimum 80% in Class 12 + good standing in law programme
- LLM/PhD: Minimum 70% in preceding degree
- Strong command of English and ability to draft legal documents

- Bonafide certificate/enrolment letter (or degree certificate for graduates)
- Mark-sheets (Class 12, LLB, LLM if applicable)
- Statement of Purpose (max 500 words)
- Valid photo ID + scanned photo & signature
- No Objection Certificate (if required)
When to Apply?
1st–10th of every month (apply 2 months before preferred start date).

- Researching legal/regulatory issues in the power sector
- Drafting briefs, notes, and summaries
- Assisting in documentation and committee work
- Supporting policy initiatives and stakeholder consultations
- Submitting a final report/presentation
