About AIHRC
The All India Human Rights Council (AIHRC), a national human rights organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and recognised under applicable legal frameworks including the Right to Information Act, 2005, has announced the opening of applications for its Punjab State Volunteer & Internship Programme 2026. Headquartered in New Delhi with active operational units across India, AIHRC works at the grassroots level to promote human rights awareness, legal literacy, social justice, and constitutional values.
About the Programme
The AIHRC Punjab Volunteer & Internship Programme 2026 is a full-time, unpaid, field-based social work programme commencing from March 2026. It is designed to provide participants with practical exposure to human rights work, legal awareness initiatives, and community-level activism. This is not a conventional desk-based internship. Selected volunteers will work directly on the ground with AIHRC teams across Punjab, particularly in the Tri-City region (Mohali, Chandigarh, Panchkula).
The Punjab State Unit of AIHRC is actively collaborating with:
- Punjab Police – SANJH Programme
- District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA)
- Anti-Narcotics Task Force and Awareness Units
Focus Areas
- Human rights awareness and legal literacy
- Anti-narcotics and drug abuse prevention campaigns
- Community-level preventive legal education
- Assisting task forces by responsibly sharing specific and verified information
- Social awareness programmes in coordination with authorities
