ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
The Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Law Committee at PSOL, explores the critical intersection of law, technology, and innovation. It enhances learning beyond the classroom by organizing expert-led workshops on patent drafting and data privacy, hosting panel discussions on contemporary issues like Al governance, and providing targeted training for national moot court competitions.
ABOUT THE EVENT
The IPR and Tech Law Committee of Presidency School of Law is pleased to announce the National Blog Writing Competition, a one-day hybrid event aimed at fostering thoughtful discourse at the crossroads of intellectual property and technology law. The competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate law students. The event will feature two main segments:
- PANEL DISCUSSION – MORNING SESSION
An expert-led discussion addressing contemporary legal challenges, emerging issues in IP and technology law, effective blog-writing techniques, and ethical considerations in digital content creation. This session offers participants guidance from leading scholars and practitioners.
- BLOG PRESENTATION – AFTERNOON SESSION
All registered participants will take part in the presentation segment after completing the submission stages outlined below, and those who are unable to attend in offline mode will be permitted to present online through the designated link provided by the organizers.

SUBMISSION & EVALUATION PROCESS
Step 1: Participants must first submit an abstract for preliminary review. The abstracts will be evaluated, judged, and constructive suggestions will be provided.
Step 2: Based on the feedback received, participants will submit their complete blog posts.
Step 3: Participants will present their final submissions before an adjudication panel.
Step 4: All presentations will be evaluated on clarity, depth of analysis, originality, and persuasiveness.
THEMES & SUB-THEMES
- Emerging trends in copyright, patents, and trademarks in the digital environment, including Al- generated content and platform-based creativity.
- Technology law issues such as data protection, cybersecurity, online platforms’ liability, and regulation of Al and digital innovation vis-à-vis IPR.
- Access to knowledge, fair use/fair dealing, open-source and open-access movements, and the balance between innovation, public interest, and private rights.
DRAFTING GUIDELINES
- Main text: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified for the main text.
- Headings: Times New Roman, font size 14, 1.5 line spacing, centrally aligned for headings.
- Footnotes (if any): Times New Roman, font size 10, single spacing, justified.
- Citation Style: Bluebook 21st Edition.
- All entries must be original and unpublished. Entries with over 10% similarity will be rejected.
- Use of Al tools for content generation or substantive drafting is strictly prohibited. Limited use of Al for grammar or spell-check may be permitted, provided the intellectual content remains entirely original. Plagiarism will result in an immediate ban from the competition.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Participants must first submit an abstract for review and evaluation. Feedback and suggestions will be provided, after which all participants will be required to submit a finalized blog post for presentation.
- All submissions must include both an MS Word file (.doc or .docx) and a PDF file.
- Submission shall be made via the designated Submission link only.
- Participants must name their file with the allotted team code and the name of the theme.
- For eg. If a participant is having a team code TC 01 and the theme is Copyright and Al in the Digital Age. File shall consist of the name accordingly; TC01_ Copyright and Al in the Digital Age.
- All submissions must be received on or before Due Date.
- The final results shall be determined based on the cumulative evaluation of both the Abstract Submission and the Final Blog Submission.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Manuscripts must be completely anonymized (no author names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgements, or identifying data) in the submitted article file.
- Maximum two authors per submission.
- By submitting, authors confirm that the blog does not violate any third-party rights. Authors alone will be responsible for any legal issues that arise.
- Authors must ensure their submissions specifically engage with topics at the intersection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Technology Law. Entries that do not adhere to this core focus may be subject to disqualification.
- Entries will be judged on Originality, Depth of research, Clarity, Coherence, Relevance to theme, Quality of analysis and Writing style.
- All the works submitted to the IP National Blog Writing Competition shall be treated as the Intellectual Property of the IPR and Tech Committee.
DRESS CODE
- All shortlisted participants are required to be dressed in formal courtroom attire for the final presentation round.
- Boys: Formal shirt (half or full sleeves, tucked in) with trousers, accompanied by a blazer or waistcoat if available.
- Girls: Modest formal wear such as Formal shirt (half or full sleeves, tucked in) with trousers, salwaar kameez, or saree, accompanied by a blazer or waistcoat if available.
CODE OF CONDUCT
- All participants are expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect throughout the competition. This includes submitting original work with proper legal citations, adhering to the prescribed formal dress code, and engaging courteously with judges, organizers, and fellow participants.
- Participants are not permitted to communicate directly with the judges during the course of the event unless expressly authorized by the organizing committee.
- Strict punctuality, respectful discourse, and compliance with all rules and deadlines are mandatory.
- Failure to uphold these standards may result in disqualification. The organizing committee reserves the right to take any action it deems appropriate in the event of misconduct or violation of the rules. By participating, you agree to abide by this code.
AWARDS AND CERTIFICATION
- Winner: ₹7,000
- Runner-up: ₹5,000
- Second Runner-up: ₹3,000
- All participants will be issued E- Certificates of Participation.
