The summer school workshop on “Large-scale Data Analysis, and Academic Paper Publishing” is an intensive program that aims to equip participants, particularly postgraduate students, Ph.D. students, and early-career researchers, with the essential skills required to excel in academic research. The workshop specifically addresses every facet of social science research, encompassing the data analysis, report writing, and publication in academic journals. Further, traditional research methodology workshops cover theoretical aspects and leave out the applied part, i.e., how to analyse the field survey and secondary data. Students also faced challenges analysing nationally representative data such as NSSO and NFHS. This workshop will fill this gap.

Themes to be covered:

1. Hands on practice on STATA

2. Time Series, Cross-sectional and Panel Data Analysis

3. Extraction, cleaning and analysis of NSSO and NFHS data

4. Mixed Method (Dummy Variable model, Logit, Tobit, Probit models) analysis

5. Environmental data analysis (Mann-Kendall Test, Sen Slope estimator, Pettitt test)

6. Application of Geographical (GIS) software in social science research

7. Scholarly writings/popular writings

8. Referencing/Citation Style/Bibliography

9. Research and Publication Ethics

10. Preventing Plagiarism

11. Publishing in Academic Journals
