Scopus: Call for Book Chapters “Monitoring and Evaluating the Ecological Health of Wetlands”

Scope of Book

Wetlands are vital for human survival. They are among the world’s most productive environments; cradles of biological diversity that provide the water and productivity upon which countless species of plants and animals depend for survival. The Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971, is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. Wetlands provide habitat for thousands of species of aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals. Wetlands are valuable for flood protection, water quality improvement, shoreline erosion control, natural products, recreation, and aesthetics. Wetlands provide many societal benefits: food and habitat for fish and wildlife, including threatened and endangered species; water quality improvement; flood storage; shoreline erosion control; economically beneficial natural products for human use; and opportunities for recreation, education, and research. Wetland also help to reduce the greenhouse gases. The major objective of current edited book is to highlight the challenges of wetland conservation and current scenario of existing wetland with importance of inland wetland. Inventory, assessment and monitoring are vital components of effective wetland management. The conservation of inland wetland is critical and most importantly to retain the wetland and protect them in situ.
