IP Assisto is a center committed to disseminate awareness and carry out research to contribute towards a robust Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) regime in India. The Centre encourages creativity and innovation among people which would eventually lead to a generation of Intellectual Property (IP). As the name suggested it is an organization formed for the promotion of Alternate DisputeResolution in India. ADR is an extensive field having a variety of alternatives for individuals willing to resolve their disputes to choose from, ranging from Arbitration, Mediation, conciliation, negotiation, etc. It is becoming a widely accepted mode of dispute resolution. The organization aims to create awareness, facilitate extensive research and explore possible careeroptionsinthefieldofADR.Theorganizationregularlyconductsnational/international webinars, conferences, panel discussions with eminent industry experts, certificate courses and provides internships. We are a one-stop venue for all ADR aspirants.

ABOUT SYMPOSIUM

The proliferation of the internet brought together people from different locations and jurisdictions to engage in virtual business transactions. It is particularly useful for resolving cross-border disputes and issues that may arise because of multiple jurisdictions. It is, for this reason, that early adoption for ODR has been in resolving e-commerce transactions where parties are in different jurisdictions, and in low-value disputes arising out of both business-to-business as well as business-to-consumer transactions, where going to courts makes little economic sense. Registration of domain names is a competitive process that can lead to conflicts as parties are interested in protecting their intellectual property entitlements. Consequently, the WIPO introduced the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) which is being implemented by the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Under this cost-effective online arbitration process is conducted for resolving domain name disputes.WIPO is working to expand this online arbitration to other intellectual property rights disputes also wherein all submissions, communications, as well as payments, will be made electronically.

In light of the above considerations, the symposium will address the related issues and particularly to identify the major advancements in the present legal regime and deliberate on how to strengthen the Indian ADR system in fostering the development of the nation and similarly to analyze the challenges to find an optimal balance between the rights of inventors, who provide technological innovations to improve social conditions and the online dispute resolution.
