“Our endeavour is to serve the society through reforms in legal services by way of preparing professionally competent lawyers, inquisitive researchers, able administrators, conscientious judicial officers, and above all, socially responsible citizens, who shall be whole- heartedly and continuously engaged in the process of nation building.”
The Punjab State Information Commission is the primary recipient of complaints from citizens and is further involved in the process of investigation and examination of records. The Commission has been instrumental in conducting inquiries and securing compliance from public authorities under the purview of the Right to Information Act, 2005. The Commission has also played a vital role in ensuring transparency in the functioning of various echelons of authorities. It has been instrumental in combating misuse of authority, while being the facilitator for transparent practices.
The main office of the Commission is located at Red Cross Building, Near Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh. It houses the office of the Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners.

OBJECTIVE OF THE TRAINING PROGRAMME:
The objective of the programme is to commemorate the RTI week which is celebrated from 6th October – 12th October,
To raise awareness on the issues of Right to Information.
To provide participants with a clear understanding of the main features of RTI Act and its operational provisions.
To explain the role of designated Assistant Public Information Officers, Public Information Officers and Appellate Authorities and other functionaries involved in dealing with RTI matters.
To explain the process of seeking and providing information.
To explain the strategy for operationalizing Right to Information.
To discuss the practical problems faced by the PIO’s and the stake holders.
To deliberate upon the efficient implementation of the Act.
CERTIFICATES WILL BE PROVIDED ON THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE WORKSHOP. (100% ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY)
