Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is the statutory university established by the Govt. of Gujarat under the   Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. Programme Highlights

The PG Diploma in Biotechnology Law  and Policy is offered by Gujarat National Law University in collaboration with Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM). The PG Diploma in Biotechnology and Policy is the only programme in India focusing on the interplay between Biotechnology Law and Policy. The Diploma offers a comprehensive, industry ready curriculum. The Duration of the Diploma would be one year and the classes would be conducted on a weekly basis. The Programme would be carried out by expert faculty from Gujarat National Law University as well as by Government and industry in addition to global experts. The candidates enrolled would also get access to the GNLU Library Resources through Remote Access.

Fee Structure

The fee for the entire programme is Rs 15000.

Course Details

PG Diploma in Biotechnology, Law and Policy has been designed to impart knowledge of law related to biotechnology, which is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. This interdisciplinary programme will lay a strong foundation for understanding the interplay between biotechnology, law and regulation, and prepare students to meet the rising demand for biotechnology policy expertise to control the potential risks associated with the use of modern biotechnology products. The programme covers various areas of biotechnology law, regulatory issues, and also explores related areas such as law and genetics, research on human tissues and stem cells, biosecurity, biobanks and gene patents. It reviews the implications of strategic ethical, legal, and regulatory choices that add value to the biotechnology firm, customers, and society. The programme consists of eight courses spread over two semesters

  • Indian Legal System: A Primer
  • Science of Biotechnology
  • Regulation of Biotechnology
  • Biotechnology and Intellectual Property Rights

Semester II

  • Biotechnology and Human Rights
  • Biotechnology and Environmental Law
  • Biotechnology and International Trade Law
  • Dissertation

Eligibility Requirements

The candidates ought to possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

The batch will start from January 2022.

Important Deadlines

The classes would commence from the 1st week of January 2022.
