ABOUT THE IMS UNISON UNIVERSITY
IMS Unison University (IUU), a constituent of Unison Education Foundation, was established in 1996 as the Institute of Management Studies. After having successfully contributed to higher education, the Government of Uttarakhand granted its approval to establish it as IMS Unison University in 2013. With a legacy spanning over 25 years – we’re proud of our pioneering history, distinguished present and exciting future.
ABOUT THE EVENT
The IMS Unison University, Dehradun is organizing 3rd Edition of National Mediation Competition 2022 on 29th September to 01st October 2022. Law Universities / Colleges / Institutes across the country are invited to participate in the competition and to be a part of this most respected and awaited competition in India. The competition is considered as a flagship event of IMS Unison University Dehradun which will provide a real-life enriching experience of mediation.
The mediation competition is similar to mediation running before a Mediator assigned by the Court. When the court decides that there is a scope of settlement in the matter pending before him and the parties of the suit are agreeing for that, the court forwards the matter before the Mediator.The Mediator, to resolve the matter and to bring about a settlement between the parties, holds the meeting. In the Mediation competition, it is judged that what types of tools, techniques and manners are adopted by the participants as Mediator. The problem is henceforth based on Family law, Law of Contract and Sale of Goods Act. Maximum 25 teams are invited on the basis of first come first serve. The event will be conducted in four rounds i.e., Preliminary Round, Quarter Final Round, Semi-Final Round and Final Round.
We are proud to host this prestigious competition as it is going to be one of its kind and it shall be our utmost duty to put in our sincere efforts in aggrandizing the overall experience of the competition and hospitality for the participants, thus, striving to make this event a magnificent one.
SUBJECTS ENCOMPASSED
All the Problems shall be based on either of the subjects, solely or in combination there with:
Family law
Law of Contract
Sale of Goods Act
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Competition shall be open for ‘bona-fide’ students who are pursuing LL.M. Programme or Integrated Five-Year LL.B. Programme or Three-Year LL.B. Programme from any Institute/University in India. Such Institute/University must be recognized by the Bar Council of India.
LANGUAGE
The language for each round of Competition shall be English only.
DRESS CODE
A. Inside the Mediation Session the participant shall follow the below mentioned formal d r e s s code.
Female Participants: White Kurta, Black Salwar and Black Dupatta or White Shirt, Black Trousers and Black Tie, Black Coat and Black Leather Shoes.
Male Participants: White Shirt, Black Trousers and Black Tie, Black Coat and Black Leather Shoes.
B. The dress code for all the functions at the competition shall be Western Formals for Gentlemen and Western or Indian Formals for Ladies.
*All participants are mandatorily required to carry their University/College ID Card.
TEAM COMPOSITION
Team shall comprise of only two (2) members. One shall be Mediator and one shall act as a Client.
Each Law Institute/ University shall be eligible to send Two Teams. Team should not disclose the identity of their Institution/University in course of proceedings in the mediation rooms; such disclosure shall invite penalties including disqualification.
Each Team shall be provided with a separate team code at the time when its registration will be confirmed by organising committee.
REGISTRATION
Maximum 25 Teams shall be registered on first come first serve basis by properly filled Registration Form as provided in Google Link and submit
Registration Fee.
Registration fee 1800/- shall be submitted through NEFT/RTGS in the account of university. Details of accounts are as follows –
