Background
The NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) contributes to improving the effectiveness of the Alliance in promoting stability and reconstruction efforts in conflict and post- conflict scenarios through the analysis of lessons learned, training, and the development of thematic concepts and doctrine-related activities. The Centre provides the Alliance, NATO countries and NATO partners with unique expertise in the field of SFA.
Call
In the framework of its core mission, NATO SFA COE is currently working on a new specialised publication in collaboration with SHAPE ACO Office of Legal Affairs (ACO OLA) and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (Sanremo, Italy). The project, entitled “Stabilization and Reconstruction in a Post-Conflict Environment”, responds to the emerging need to mitigate the instability factors in post-conflict areas, in order to collect and study the best possible practices potentially applicable to various crisis-affected regions and guarantee their resilience post-intervention. The Call for Papers aims to collect, map and report on the expert perspectives of an international pool of authors, whose analysis of the chosen topics will allow a comprehensive view of the stabilisation and reconstruction process. Following a quality assessment led by the partner organisations/institutions, the best contributions received will be finally published as part of the thematic volume mentioning the respective authors.

The key topics related to the overarching theme of “Stabilization and Reconstruction in a Post-Conflict Environment” and to be addressed by the papers are the following:
