About the Legal Internship Opportunity
We are looking for legal research interns to inform the design and data behind our tools. Your input will shape our first product offerings. This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys high-agency work better than corporate offices and dress codes. You’ll be working directly with our founders, who met as Harvard undergrads and have worked at institutions including India’s Chief Economic Advisor’s office, the Gates Foundation, and the World Bank. We are a small, but passionate team. Top-performing interns may be offered full-time roles (and stock options).
Eligibility
- An ambitious and fast-moving law student or recent graduate, who will be in Chennai in the period from 15 April to 15 July
- Interested in Indian jurisprudence, and an avid reader who regularly follows changes in case law and legislation
- Outgoing and interested in interacting with lawyers and other adjacent professionals
- Experience interning or working as a junior/associate with a practicing firm is strongly preferred but not required
- Familiarity with user research and marketing, if any, is appreciated
Roles and Responsibilities
- Testing novel legal tools while using them as they would be used in the practice
- Demonstrating tools to prospective users and collecting feedback
- Curating lists of legislation and precedent
- Annotating and correcting legal documents
Location
Chennai
This is a part-time role, where the expected workload is ~20 hours per week with over 50% spent in-office (the remaining is flexibly remote).
The role will be full-time over university summer break (if any).
Stipend
Stipend is INR 15,000 per month.
