Article Processing Charge/ Publication Fees
- All articles published in our journals are open-access and freely available online, immediately upon publication. Article Processing Charges (APCs) are essential for the sustainability of open-access journals. These charges cover various expenses associated with the publication of an article, such as the first and second peer review editor’s fees (since it’s a double-blind peer review), server and hosting expenses, website maintenance, and lifetime article preservation. Journals also have to pay for expensive software like Turnitin to check for plagiarism and, if they want to, for CrossRef DOI registration, which is also expensive. Without these charges, journals cannot afford to maintain their online platforms, pay for the editorial and technical staff, or preserve the published content for future generations. Therefore, APCs play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term viability of open-access journals, which offer a way to increase the visibility and impact of research by making it freely accessible to anyone with an internet connection. The APC, payable when your manuscript is editorially accepted and before publication, is charged to either you or your funder, institution or employer.
