About: The Ministry of External Affairs is delighted to announce the second edition of the MEA Internships Programme for the year 2023-24. The programme aims to bring a stronger focus on MEA, provide valuable experiences to interns, promote gender inclusivity, and enhance diversity in qualifications, domicile, and socio-economic status among the intern cohort.
An honorarium of INR 10,000 per month will be provided to each intern to cover basic costs. Additionally, the Ministry will cover the one-time to and fro air travel expenses, subject to a ceiling of the prevailing economy class airfare between the state capital and Delhi, for interns from their domicile state or college/university.
Eligibility Criteria: Internships at MEA headquarters are open to Indian citizens with a minimum educational qualification of a graduate degree from a recognized university at the time of applying. Internships are also available to students in the final year of their graduation, where an internship is a mandatory part of their final-year curriculum. The maximum age limit for candidates is 25 years as of 31st December of the internship year.
Internship Details: Intake and Duration: Internships will be offered in two terms of six months each, i.e., April to September and October to March. Each term will engage a maximum of 30 interns.
Selection Procedure: The entire selection process, including applications, scrutiny, selection, allocation of Division, notification, extension, and certification, will be managed online at www.internship.mea.gov.in.
Obligations of the Intern: The internship programme introduces the process of formulating foreign policy and its implementation by the Government of India. Interns will be assigned specific topics of work and responsibilities during their internship.
Termination of Internship: Selection to the internship programme is subject to necessary security clearances. The Ministry reserves the right to terminate the engagement of an intern at any point in time as deemed fit.

Term II (October-March): Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal
