About Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL)

The State Legislature of Punjab established the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act 2006 (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006). The Act incorporated a University of Law of national stature in Punjab, to fulfil the need for a Centre of Excellence in legal education in the modern era of globalization and liberalization. The University acquired the Bar Council of India (BCI) approval in July 2006. The University also got registered with the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and has been declared fit to obtain a grant from the (UGC) under Section 12-B of the UGC Act, 1956. The University was accredited with ‘A’ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2015. RGNUL, Punjab was granted autonomy under UGC Regulations, Clause 5 Dimensions of Autonomy for Category-II Universities in April 2018. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, ranked RGNUL the first amongst the cleanest Higher Educational Institutions, Swachh Campus (2019) in the category of Government Residential Universities.

About the Centre for Advanced Studies in Human Rights (CASIHR)

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Human Rights (CASIHR) is a research Centre under the aegis of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab (RGNUL). The Centre’s primary objective is to promote advanced study and interdisciplinary research on the emerging trends in human rights and its allied fields. It endeavours to encourage debates and discussions on the matters that gyrate around human rights at regional, national and international levels so as to contribute paradigm shift in the cognitive understanding of these issues. 

About the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) 

The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) is an autonomous organisation that was established by the Government of India in the year 1969 with the objective to promote, review encourage, assist and coordinate social science research. As a part of its Programme six Regional Centres were set up across the country to act as a representative of the ICSSR to provide information and implement the programmes and activities of the Council in the Region.

About ICSSR, North Western Regional Centre, Panjab University

The North Western Regional Centre of the ICSSR was set up on the campus of the Panjab University in 1977, on the initiative of Professor J.P. Naik, Member Secretary, ICSSR New Delhi and Professor R.C. Paul, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University. It acts as a representative of the ICSSR New Delhi for the promotion of social sciences and as an information Centre for disseminating and implementing the programmes and the activities of the Council. The North Western Regional Centre of ICSSR’s jurisdiction extends to Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Centre for Advanced Studies in Human Rights, RGNUL Punjab, Patiala in collaboration with ICCSR-North Western Centre Panjab University, Chandigarh is organising a National Seminar on New Dimensions And Challenges For Human Rights on 11th August 2023.

The theme of the Seminar: New Dimensions and Challenges for Human Rights

Sub-Themes: The organizing Committee welcomes original papers, relating to the following themes. The sub-themes are not exhaustive but other topics can be accommodated if they relate to human rights issues.

  3. Human Rights and Globalization
  4. Human Rights and the Environment
  5. Human Rights and Climate Change
  6. Human Rights and War
  7. Human Rights and Peace
  8. Human Rights and Terrorism
  9. Human Rights of Vulnerable Sections
  10. Human Rights and Education
  11. Human Rights and Poverty
  12. Human Rights and New Scientific and Technological Developments

Rules for the Presentation:

  • No abstract or full paper shall be accepted after the last date of submission respectively.
  • Participants and paper presenters have to register after the acceptance of the abstract with payment of the required fees.
  • For Participation, registration is mandatory upon confirmation of the participation. Only registered participants will be allowed to take part in the Seminar.
  • All the registered participants will be provided with a participation certificate.

Academicians, Researchers, Professionals, Practitioners, Human Rights Activists, students and other stakeholders doing research and work.

Call for Papers

Papers are invited on the above-mentioned sub-themes.

Submission Guidelines

  • All Submissions must be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 300 words.
  • Co-authorship is permissible up to a maximum of two authors.
  • All submissions are required to be mailed in .doc/.docx format only.
  • Once submitted, the paper goes through the review process.

Formatting Guidelines

  • The body of the document must be in Times New Roman with a font size of 12 and Line Spacing of 1.5. 4.
  • All the footnotes should be in Times New Roman, Font Size 10 and with single line spacing. 5.
  • The citations must conform to Bluebook (21st Edition) style.
  • Plagiarism should be less than 10% as per UGC norms.

The conference would be held in Both offline and Hybrid Mode. Fees once paid is not refundable.

Awards

Best and Selected papers will be published in CASIHR Journal of Human Rights Practice RGNUL bearing ISSN Number (Referred and Peer review journal).
