The Himachal Pradesh National Law University(HPNLU) Shimla, was established by the State Government in the year 2016, by an Act of the Legislature (Act 16 of 2016). The University started functioning from October 5, 2016. The University inducts students through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for its Under-graduate (UG) programme, which includes B.A.LL.B. and B.B.A.LL.B.-Hons. (Five-Year Integrated Course) and the Postgraduate(PG) programme for one-year LL.M. The PG programme provides four specializations viz, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law & Forensic Studies, Business Law and Intellectual Property Rights. The University also offers Doctor of Philosophy(Ph.D.) and Post-Doctorate Programmes (LL.D.) in Law.
Centre for Child and Woman Studies, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla:
“Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached” is the motto of the Centre for Child and Woman Studies, a specialized Centre, established by Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, for conducting socio-legal research in the field of rights of women and children. The Centre is created to assist governments in making better laws and policies pertaining to women and children rights. The Centre aims to serve as a research and training centre in the field of development of women and children. It further aims to initiate and promote regional, national as well as international collaboration, fund-raising for women and children cause.

The International E-Seminar on “Women, Children, and Law: Concerns, Challenges and Future” is taking place on 1st and 2nd September 2023 Online. The International Seminar on Women, Children, and Law: Concerns, Challenges, and Future is being organized by Law Mantra Trust and Centre for Child and Woman Studies, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla.
