THE AMALGAMATION OF THE AIAC PRE-MOOT AND
THE ASIA PACIFIC VIS PRE MOOT IN 2024
The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (“Vis Moot”) is a prestigious annual international moot court competition founded by the late Prof. Dr Eric E. Bergsten, to foster the study and practice of international commercial sales law and arbitration. In preparation of this prestigious event, various pre-moots are independently organised by different arbitral institutions and organisations around the world.
Envisioned as the ultimate training ground, the Vis Moot beckons. A symphony of preparation and anticipation crescendos in the form of pre-moots, and serve as a prelude to the grand stage where legal prodigies shine.
The Asian International Arbitration Centre (“AIAC”), orchestrating brilliance since 2017 through its iconic AIAC Pre-Moot, has hosted some of the biggest regional events in conjunction with the Vis Moot. Conducted within the state-of-the-art hearing rooms at Bangunan Sulaiman, Kuala Lumpur, the AIAC Pre-Moot has established itself as a spectacle that redefines the standard of excellence.
Leading the charge in the virtual space, the Asia Pacific Vis Pre Moot (“APVPM”) has accomplished an unprecedented feat by promoting diversity and inclusion through dedicated efforts to ensure that every participant becomes an integral part of the Vis Moot family. The resounding success of their virtual pre-moots in 2022 and 2023 echoed across the legal landscape, marking a new dawn of virtual engagement and promotion of diversity and inclusion in the mooting space.
In 2024, AIAC and APVPM have joined forces to organise the inaugural AIAC APAC PRE-MOOT. The general rounds will be conducted virtually in February 2024, with the elimination rounds taking place in-person at Bangunan Sulaiman, Kuala Lumpur in March 2024. This collaboration is a testament to AIAC and APVPM’s continuous commitment towards capacity building and advancing arbitration in the region.
The event’s impact extends beyond just the competition. It is an opportunity to cultivate enduring friendships that will stand the test of time, especially during the margins of the competition and also through the invaluable networking events that accompany it.
The stage is set for an unforgettable pre-moot and we welcome you to join us as we embark on a united global “Inclusive Learning Journey for All”.
